GIC CISO Eligibility Criteria 2025

Nationality:

Candidate must be one of the following:

  • Citizen of India, or
  • Subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or
  • Tibetan refugee (came to India before 1st Jan 1962), or
  • Person of Indian origin who migrated from select countries (as listed in the official PDF) with the intent of permanent settlement in India.
    (Candidates falling under categories (ii)–(v) must have a certificate of eligibility from the Government of India.)

Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 40 years
  • Maximum Age: 55 years

Educational Qualification

Mandatory:

  • Full-time Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering (Electronics & Telecommunication / Computer Science / Electrical & Electronics / IT / Electronics & Communication)
    OR
  • Master’s in Computer Application (MCA) from a recognized university.

Desirable:

  • Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or CISA.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), preferably in the BFSI (Banking, Financial Services & Insurance) sector.

The CISO will be responsible for end-to-end information security functions, including:

  • Framing and updating information security policies.
  • Ensuring compliance with IT security protocols and incident response.
  • Conducting security audits, awareness training, cyber drills.
  • Legal preparedness for breaches, cyber insurance procurement.
  • Leading initiatives for ISO 27001 certification.
  • Periodic reporting to the Information Security Steering Committee.
